    • The Galveston Firefighter's Association was originally chartered in August of 1919 and is currently comprised of the entire uniformed force of the Galveston Fire Department. We exist to serve the citizens, businesses, and industry of Galveston, Texas.  We strive to foster and encourage a higher degree of professionalism, skill and efficiency as well as a cultivation of friendship and fellowship among our members.

      08/13/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
      On Monday, August 13th, Local 2164 members responded to a property damage vehicle accident at Potomac Street and Broncos Parkway. When members arrived, they discovered a dump truck vs. sedan collision with a ruptured diesel tank and fuel leaking out. Engine 42 and the Hazardous Materials Team (Haz-Mat 38) also responded to assist.

      At 2 p.m. on Saturday August 11th, Local 2164 members responded to a building fire at the Parker Funeral Home, located at 10325 Parkglenn Way. When members arrived they observed smoke showing from the attic and chimney structure; and the employees confirmed that everyone was safe and outside.

      Greater Hanover L2045 Cancer Benefit Ride

      The Greater Hanover  Professional Firefighters Association will be hosting the 2nd Annual "Bikin for Boobies" ride on September 15th.  Registration starts at 9am at the Clover Lane Station, 204 Clover Lane in Hanover, PA. The ride will leave from there and is about 90 miles.

For 16 years, professional fire fighter Reece Chambers has been risking his life to save others, the past 14 with East Jefferson Fire Rescue, where he is currently a Lieutenant. Recently Reece received a personal version of “Fire fighter down!” — he needed a heart transplant.

The time will be confirmed on Thursday this week - another announcement will go out once that is confirmed. There will be a visitation for an hour prior to this service at the church.

      Highway 67 MVA with Extrication

      At 10:03 p.m. on Monday July 23, 2018, Local 2164 and 4116 members responded to a mutual aid assist with West Douglas County Fire District for vehicle accident requiring technical rescue on Highway 67 just west of Oak Valley Road. When West Douglas Firefighters arrived they found a cement truck down a steep embankment with heavy damage and used ropes to descend down.

A team of researchers recently set out to learn if burnout impacted a firefighter’s ability to follow required safe work practices, care for and safely use personal protective equipment (PPE), and communicate and report safety concerns.
